I am a performance artist from the UK who is looking for 10 participants for a new work to be shown at the Month of Performance Art – Berlin. I attempt to visualize or capture time and space within my practice, using actions and materials that will leave traces of the performance itself. I often perform with one material, minimal movement and through repetitive actions. For this new work I am choreographing a group walking action. The idea is to walk the ground plan of a three-story building, each performer walking the circumference of a room. The performance will take place outside GlogauAIR arts residency. Each performer will be assigned a simple path to walk and memories. All ten performers will be making similar movements in unison, creating a map with our bodies. The performance will last two hours. On Wednesday the 22nd May 10am – 1pm, we will practice the movements and I will run a short workshop to get us working well as a group. (Which will be fun!) The final performance will be on the 24th May 12 – 2pm
Unfortunately I am unable to pay participants for their time, but I will give each a print of the event, and can promise an interesting experience! If you would like to participate or have any further questions please let me know. Emma Dixon dixon.emma3@gmail.comwww.emmalouisedixon.comhttp://www.glogauair.net/contact.htm
The workshop will focus on the elaboration of relational tools and active practices borrowed from everyday reality (archives, forms, interviews, conversations) about the concept of action and animal spirit. The aim is to design a space-machine, in which physical, social and mental coordinates (place, system and thinking) open a concrete possibility of interaction and development of alternative logics for the viewer.
Prerequisite are not necessary to take part at the workshop. It can be useful (but not indispensable) to have available a personal notebook or a tablet to search, elaborate and exchange work materials. Registration is required and can be done by sending an email to info.animalspirits@gmail.com with the subject line “Animal Spirits workshop registration”. Please indicate which day (SAT or SUN) you would like to attend when making your reservation.

StratoFyzika invites you to a two day workshop for musicians, visual artists and dancers interested in interdisciplinary collaboration with practical, experiential methods from each field (movement research, interface design, sound database). Our goal is to elaborate a given concept in the workshop group and to create and explore an interactive environment in an open performance format. The workshop will be structured subsequently: presenting the complex system of interaction in audiovisual performance, closer examination of each contemporary art form: audio (composition of experimental electronic music, live production, improvisation, sound characters and experiments), visuals (on a wider range of physical/visual interaction, interaction within responsive environments, and interaction between physical and virtual worlds) and movements (various dance approaches in performance; making conscious decisions in relationship to the audio and visual elements created and making maps for choreography generated by various qualities of movement. Authentic movement exercise in relationship to concept of shadows, dualities and atavisms), theoretical summary of each part, a functional explanation and practical experimentation with techniques and possibilities within each form, creating a new concept for the workshop group and final creation of new practical and concrete piece. Attendants will be split into three groups, led by a person respectively in their focus of audio, visuals or movement. We will accent the constant relationship between audio – visual – performance. On conceptual level of audio representing time perception, common emotional experiences and abstract language, visuals building architecture in space, defying images or creating illusions, dance as presentation of dynamic force and velocity, together in interaction with audio and visuals. All approaches are versatile, all three parts of audiovisual performance has the same potency of carrying metaphors of the story, interpreting the final piece in a congenial trinity. We will explore the practical and conceptual implications of working with interactive tools, instruments and computer-controlled systems within performance conditions. Interactive tools and systems, ranging from multimedia and real time synthesis software (Max/MSP, Isadora) to the construction of proximity sensors (haptic, pressure and flex sensors, etc), distance-sensor (e.g. ultrasound, laser) or camera/video-based responsive environments and “seeing spaces”. All that linked to Audio (on Ableton Live), within action/reaction “forces”. Opportunities for learning about creative applications of digital technologies in dance and performance and for developing individual approaches and aesthetics are still not easy to have, and stronger partnerships between choreographers, musicians and software programmers but also with practitioners from the communications and social science fields need to be forged in order to further our understanding of the physical, cognitive, and social dimensions of interactivity. http://cargocollective.com/StratoFyzika/workshop-25-26-May-2013TIME: 16:00-21:00 COST: 50€ (for both days) WORKSHOP REGISTRATION: stratofyzikaworkshop@gmail.com WHERE: N.K. | Elsenstr. 52/2.Hinterhaus Etage 2, 12059 |www.nkprojekt.de

VARIATIONS UND REVIEWS: Is a film composed of what emerges from the willingness of bodies to submit themselves to an audiovisual material that lends each one to the objective of bearing witness to one’s own infinite and interminable capacity. A cycle of acts called ‘My body is yours’ will be implemented in Berlin during May, and the ideas that have come out of this process are the basis of this film. PRODUCED BY: WARMER BROTHERS OPEN CALLDEADLINE: 20 MAY 2013 00:00 HRS PREMIERE ONLINE: 22 MAY 2013 20:00 HRS What we are asking for are offerings of the body where each one who wants to become part of this filmed project gives 1 to 5 minutes of an audiovisual act and send it to us. PLAY WITH THE TITTLE of the project: We believe that the title 'my body is yours' could be a provocation for anyone to surrenders one's body and make a VARIATION of its polivalence. At the same time, what it suggests is to make a REVIEW to the archive of the processes of this project, to the materials and contents that support this research, all available on the web site: http://www.lalocuracura.com/#!__cycles Also, we will organize an open-meeting, designed to cook the ideas. FAQThe body surrenders itself to hunger, to the cold; the body surrenders itself to an 'other', to a 'when', does it matter? Is it difficult for an individual to give its body to 'something' as an offering? Or does this giving depend on something? Is one's surrendering a salient feature of social, psychological and physical issues. What effects do a 'filmed' material has in relation to what we have surrendered?Does this process include pornography of one's identity? For more information consult www.lalocuracura.com
ABOUT HOT ACTS (URBAN RITUALS)A series of ‘cooked situations’ that generate warmth inside different houses in the city. Assuming the role of cook (Joseph) and movement DJ (Lalo) they ask the people of Berlin to open their doors and let them create a ‘slightly’ different evening than ordinary. Armed with his kit of spices, Joseph will cook the leftovers or found food in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Lalo provides the music and some cambimba (dance moves) to create a context where the guests can sweat it out. Once the food is cooked, and dancing is over, then its time to cook the scene, where Lalo, Joseph, the host/s and the guest/s decide on how to share the food and spend the rest of the evening. It is a game to rethink the idea of being together in the city, where sometimes people tend to be so near, yet so far from each other. OPEN CALLAn invitation to those who would like to play: Bring your food leftovers, unfinished and unwanted things, or just simply bring your body, your hunger, your desires, your warmth. Lalo and Joseph will do the same, with a little bit of spices for cooking and little bit of cambimba (moves) for dancing. An evening where food, spices, bodies and rhythms gets mixed up and cooked together. From this recipe, we’ll see what happens. HOW TO COLLABORATE/WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU? A house and a hostWe need houses to host a ‘hot acts’ event. Each house can host one or more evenings during the whole month of May. The hosts also have the option to open the encounter to the public, and if so, limit the number of people who could attend. They can also just limit the encounter to a group whom they would like to invite. The host must let Joseph use the kitchen to cook, and for Lalo to use any open-space (living room) of the house where they could move. Both kitchen and open space need not be big. The number of slots for one event will be determined according to the size of the house and the agreement of the host. Warm bodies/non-hosting participants If you would like to join a ‘hot acts’ evening, please leave your contact details, and we will contact / update you as soon as we finalize the dates and addresses of the encounters. To collaborate as a host or as a guest, please leave your details in this page: http://hotacts.wordpress.com/2013/04/14/collaborate/ For available dates, please see the calendar: http://hotacts.wordpress.com/calendar/ See you soon!
Agora’s program inside the frame of The Month of Performance Art Berlin focuses on questions that permeate, connect and disconnect two distinctive manifestations from the performative field: Choreography/Dance and Performance Art. The program consists of different activities that Agora proposes to raise questions and create contexts to encourage the interaction between Contemporary Dance and Performance Art professionals. Within the activities, the program offers two Workshops, one by the Taiwanese performance artist Lan Hughn and one by the German choreographer Hermann Heisig. Both artists will also perform their work in Agora, on May 11th. Download the PDF below for the Agora Thinks Performance Art programme and workshop details.

We welcome proposals for ‘off’ projects during the Month of Performance in Berlin. The lounge of our apartment in central Kreuzberg is available for performance-related projects such as discussions, open-meetings, presentations, lecture performances and other small-scale events. All proposals will need to take account of the residential nature of the space both in terms of not damaging floors etc and not making too much noise for the neighbors and would be better to fit around the schedule of the Month Of Performance Art. The lounge is small (16m2) and pleasant, and an adjacent bedroom may also be available. Sorry, we cannot provide accommodation. To see an image please go to http://tinyurl.com/c8rz7o7For more information and to propose a project contact Orion Maxted - orionmaxted@gmail.com with G30 in the subject line.
