Appropriate Myths. Represent them, play them, mock them, believe in them or not... So. Do what you want about it, but never betray the song, nor the Karaoke’s framework. We are not sure: Who will be the holder, and who will be hold? But as long as we dance, it doesn’t matter.
Seven Artists, part of the Agora Collective, will take over the ground floor of l’Atelier for a continuous live performance. Lasting three hours, during three days, the group will bring on the trilogy translating it into formal Aesthetic representations. Highly interactive, this happening will try to open up questions around the Art of the Performance.
Katherina Heil - De-Construction-Re-Construction, work in progress
De-construction-Re-construction is going to be produced over a 5-day period. During this time the artist will record random faces and their related names. Each print is going to be de-constructed and re-constructed and finally archived in a showcase. A log of the work process will also be part of the final installation. In each of the re-construction that make up the work, the aspects of construction (concepts as time, history, being, theory, death, mind, body, matter, logic) collide with the aspects of de-construction (destroying the construction) and re-construction (process of re-creating something more or less non-existent (as eg a moment of experience), the unknown, fragment, source, evidence, hypothesis, result). The study-like way of working is a metaphor for the constructed self by using the underlying learned rules and procedures of reconstructing.
PERMANENT ARTISTIC INSTALLATIONS:
Benjamin Laurent Aman
The Fencer Room
Mixed media score of a performance recalling a constructivist approach of memory and intending to define the limits of different states of consciousness and psycho-geographical disorders.
Clemence de la Tour du Pin
The Great Escape
In an inverse to the white cube, where its emptiness and lack of reference can become a source of uncontrollable-ness, the artist will project her self-portrait interacting with the narrow, black triangular space of L’Atelier - kunst(spiel)raum, exploring the thematic of claustrophobia.
L’echec de la pesenteur
Video, 10`45mn, loop, 2009
The loop is centred continuously on a rope making a hole. Bubbles blown through the hole. Emptiness encountering emptiness, as a symbol of vanity. Pop but minimal, poetical but cynical. L’echec de la pesenteur, un envol.
ABOUT L'ATELIER - KUNST(SPIEL)RAUM
L’Atelier - kunst(spiel)raum is an exhibition space in the back yard of Grossbeerenstr. 34 in Mehringdamm, Berlin. 180 m2 over two floors host a program of solo presentations by young artists as well as experimental sound concerts, screenings, workshops and residencies. L’Atelier - kunst(spiel)raum is a project of curator Stefania Angelini (MC) initiated with the goal to act as a professional intermediate for selected young artists and at the same time as an interdisciplinary playroom for the local and international artistic community in Berlin. Six to seven selected artists per year are given the opportunity to present their work in an equipped gallery space, without the usual white cube attitude. The interdisciplinary concept of l’Atelier focuses on creating a platform for new ideas, interaction and networking. Linking different domains, finding alternatives to classical models of exhibition, L’Atelier tries to open up a pre-formatted idea of the art gallery according to the idea of Gesamkunstwerke: total work, total artist. The space is young and will evolve together with its artists.
For the second edition of the Month of the Performance l’Atelier approaches the field of Performance Art and pushes the boundaries through 5 days of programmed artistic interventions. The programme has been thought in 3 parts : - Permanent artistic installations - Performances - Concerts.
LIVE CONFESSION AT LOOPHOLE
Boddinstrasse 60, 12053 Berlin www.loophole-berlin.de
LIVE CONFESSION WITH YAEL SHERILL
Live Confession is a conversational game made up of words and exchanges based on the printed journal Drawing Room Confessions, which is inspired by the parlour game played by Marcel Proust, the Surrealists and others in the late nineteenth century. The aim of the game is to reveal the tastes, aspirations and personalities of the player through words and exchanges, rather than through artwork. MPA-B artist YAEL SHERILL (check her U-Bhan Antigone project from May 29th to May 30th) will be guided through the 6 unrehearsed and informal stages of the game in front of a live audience in the relaxed setting of a bar. Drawing out an overall feeling of the way the artist thinks, Live Confession is a genuine and accessible introduction to the creative minds behind the art. The event is a cross between a performance and an interview. It aims to allow people to get to know the artists taking part in the festival in a much more informal environment. As the event is unrehearsed and follows the same basic structure of 6 stages of a game that will be conducted by a host, everything is left to unfold on the night. Additionally there will be no photography or filming at the event in order to maintain the intimacy and immediacy of the evening. The only documentation or lasting record will be an online type-up of the final Proust Questionnaire answers.
The six stages are as follows:
1. The Egoist: a conversation between the player and an individual selected by the player.
2. The Blind Man: a conversation between the player and an individual unknown to the player, and whose interests are not directly in art.
3. Two to Tango: a conversation between the player and someone selected by the host.
4. Ekphrasis: 30seconds to create a worded representation of a visual representation.
5. Timeline: defining moments of the artist’s life, including the art & culture experiences, and historical events, that have defined how he or she thinks and lives.
6. La Madeleine: a fixed questionnaire based on the original Proust Questionnaire.

LAMPYRIS NOCTILUCA: PERFORMANCE BY FRIED ROSENSTOCK
AGORA is a platform that empowers individuals through multi-disciplinary collaborative creation, a gathering space of professionals, driven by the urge to explore new ways of interaction and collaboration in today’s context. We are dedicated on creating intelligent forms of producing, working and living - artistically, socially and economically. As an airport of ideas; making bridges, connecting talented and engaged people. Agora is also an incubator; developing and supporting artistic, social, environmental and economical projects. Much of our space healthily remains in constant flux. Every few days the tables and walls shift to incorporate a new art exhibition, workshop, lecture, performance, yoga class, organic food fair, film screenings and all sorts of cultural projects.
Since our founding in June 2011 we have quickly gathered a community made up of members from over 30 nationalities. Like our resilient home base of Berlin we view the world's differences and its diversity as powering the potential for constructive growth and advancement.
