(Abteilung für Alles Andere) during Direct Action Festival 2012 on May 26th.

Here is the text Luke submitted, and which will be used to create a new performance (or second variation) by another artist to be selected in June:

NOMINATION N. 12
"Attempt to touch every visitor to the space before or during the event using any means necessary (i.e. social conventions, accidental collisions, restricting space) to ensure that the public are unaware the performance is taking place. The piece ends when the last remaining person is touched or the performance is unable to continue due to event programming. The piece may be declared as having taken place anytime after this point."

This is it folks! Join us today at the Denkerei for the award ceremony of the first international prize devoted to performance art, The Duvel Award, and for the MPA-B 2012 closing event. The award kicks off at 19:00. The winning performance will be nominated by a public vote moderated by Nicolas Y Galeazzi. Anyone can join in the debate. Later we will head to the Trödler on Dresdener Strasse 123, 10999 in Kreuzberg for a few drinks and goodbyes.

A round of applause for the silent little helper called “ignorance.” No, not the kind that’ll have you clubbing foreigners on the street. The helpful kind, which, lest we lose our minds for good, has us husslin’ on despite the fact that there are (and always will be) problems in our lives we just cannot solve:

What’s the meaning of life? Will a nap make us more tired? Why, oh why, did the animals eat the pineapple? Why is the love of our life just not the one we’re meant to be with? If the following statement is true, but this statement is false, then…wait, what? Justin Bieber?

Ever since the opening of Kreuzberg’s philosophical think tank, Denkerei, last December, Oranienplatz has turned into a melting pot for those martyrly individuals who can’t help but try and solve the most unsolvable of problems. This self-proclaimed “ministry of unsolvable problems,” founded by artist, theorist, and Fluxus theory advocate, Bazon Brock, offers regular mind-bending talks, seminars, and performances, including the upcoming interactive performance, “What do you really want?” during which artist Stephanie Senge will turn people’s grocery purchases into objects they really meant to buy. In the meantime, email Brock to pitch your own unsolvable problem.

Problem? Unsolved.

We are delighted to announce the opening of the online nomination process for the first international Performance Art Prize, THE DUVEL AWARD 2012,  in partnership with the Belgian brewery Duvel Moortgat and its official German importer, Bierlinie GmbH.

The public selection event for the [ MPA-B ϟ PERFORMANCEKUNST-PREIS] as well as the MPA-B 2012 CLOSING PARTY  will be hosted at the Denkerei in Kreuzberg on May 31st starting from 19:00.
